Founded in 1962 by the revered sage Swami Prakashananda Saraswati, Abhamandal Ashram was established in the sacred foothills of Rajasthan as a sanctuary where ancient Vedic traditions could be preserved, practiced, and transmitted to future generations.
The name "Abhamandal" — meaning the halo or circle of divine light — reflects the ashram's mission: to illuminate the inner life of every seeker who walks through its gates. Over six decades, the ashram has grown from a modest hermitage of twelve residents into a thriving community of over 200 devoted practitioners, welcoming thousands of pilgrims and seekers annually.
Rooted in the Advaita Vedanta lineage of Adi Shankaracharya, the ashram's spiritual curriculum encompasses daily Vedic chanting, pranayama, meditation, Sanskrit study, and the transformative practice of Karma Yoga through selfless service.

Our free community kitchen serves over 300 hot meals daily to pilgrims, sadhus, and local families in need — sustaining the ancient tradition of Annadaan (gift of food).
Gurukul Education Centre
A residential school offering Sanskrit, Vedic mathematics, classical music, and modern academics to 85 underprivileged children — completely free of charge.
Heritage Temple Restoration
Careful restoration of the 400-year-old Shiva temple within the ashram grounds, preserving rare stone carvings and traditional fresco paintings for future generations.

Empowering 40+ rural women through traditional textile arts — creating sustainable livelihoods while preserving Rajasthani handloom heritage.
Solar & Water Harvesting
Installation of solar panels providing 80% of the ashram's energy needs, and a rainwater harvesting system supplying 50,000 litres annually.
